TITLE: Helmet Technician

REPORTS TO: Lab Manager



The Helmet Testing Staff is responsible for the execution of mechanical helmet testing for ACT Lab’s clients to ensure compliance with applicable standards. The Helmet Testing Staff will be responsible for maintaining test equipment, utilizing equipment for product testing, and reporting results back to the lead of the Department or Lab Manager to determine the next course of action.


· Conduct routine testing

· Record test data and be able to analyze and communicate results (e.g., notice irregularities)

· Carry out routine equipment maintenance

– Maintain equipment logs and records

– Perform equipment validation procedures

· Install and operate equipment and systems

· Maintain a clean working environment

– Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment

· Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies

· Follow all quality protocols and report any discrepancies to the manager

· May be assigned special or ad hoc projects


· Education: High School Diploma

· Experience: 1-2 years mechanical testing experience a plus, especially experience and familiarity with bicycles and outdoors sporting goods. Helmet testing experience also a plus.

· Training: Participate in company mandated training and be able to demonstrate ability to conduct testing independently at conclusion of training

· Technical knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to apply concepts to quality control testing

· Skills:

– Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples & various equipment

– Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner,

– Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other basic office computer skills/software

– Strong attention to detail, able to work well under pressure

– Good time management and communication skills

– Ability to work well with others and independently

– Ability to lift/pull 50lbs
