Electrical Engineer (Long Beach, CA)

The Electrical Engineer will assist the Engineering Manager with electrical testing, method development, modification, verification, and validation. They will also assist with the design and assembly of testing apparatuses. In addition, the Electrical Engineer will be expected to become familiar with testing standards and provide additional engineering support when needed.

  • Assist the Engineering Manager in verifying standard methods and in validating and verifying non-standard methods (i.e. research and development, method development, modification, etc.)
  • Develop and write test plans and procedures
  • Design, control, and implement new electrical test procedures
  • Build, set up, and operate test equipment and testing fixtures
  • Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions
  • Collaborate with other departments to design and apply new system processes
  • Provide engineering support for testing
  • Examine needs on new electrical equipment, calculate costs, and help prepare budgets
  • Stay up to date on standard/policy developments and help implement updates
  • Ensure all testing and tasks are done in a safe and responsible manner, supporting all environmental, health, safety, and security requirements
  • Perform additional engineering work as needed


  • Education: Bachelor of Science (electrical engineering degree is a plus)
  • Understanding of electrical engineering codes and safety standards
  • 1-3 years of experience in an electrical engineering capacity
  • AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience
  • Experience with National Instruments Labview is a plus
  • Motivation to stay up to date on electrical advances using new technologies
  • Ability to use industry-specific tools
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to understand complex electrical systems
  • Participate in company-mandated training and demonstrate knowledge of common mechanical testing standards and design principles
  • Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, especially when applied to design work and quality control testing
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
