ANSI/CAN/UL – 2849 Electrical Systems for e-Bikes
This standard covers the electrical system of e-Bikes powered by lithium-based rechargeable batteries, including pedal-assist and non-pedal assist e-Bikes. The minimum required components are the drive unit, battery, battery management system, interconnecting wiring, and power inlet. It does not cover the mechanical structure of the e-Bike. ANSI/CAN/UL – 2272 Standard for Electrical Systems for Personal E-mobility Devices
This safety standard is for the electrical systems of personal e-mobility devices, including electric-powered scooters. It focuses on evaluating the safety of the electrical drive train system, battery system, and other electrical components for energy and electrical shock hazards. It does not evaluate the device’s performance or reliability, nor does it assess physical hazards related to their use.

ANSI/CAN/UL/ULC – 2271 Standard for Batteries for use in Light Electrical Vehicles (LEV) Applications
UL 2271 specifies the requirements for electrical energy storage assemblies (EESAs), including battery packs and combination battery pack-electrochemical capacitor assemblies, and their subassemblies/modules, used in light electric-powered vehicles (LEVs).
