Recall Awareness Promoted – Important Alerts Available

Consumers and all industries and channels of trade are affected
by recalls.  The GlobalRecalls portal promotes “…the cost of product-related injury, death and property damage in the USA exceeds 1 trillion $USD per year alone.”  Since January 2016 recalls on “sports and recreational” products such as bicycles and bicycle components, electric bicycles, water
bottles, hoverboards, outdoor gear, helmets and other accessories have been posted on the CPSC – Consumer Product Safety Commission website.   Additional online platforms are increasing the ease for both consumers and manufacturers to gain access and awareness about product recalls.

Helmets to ECE R22.05

image021

Developed by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), R22.05 is the most commonly accepted helmet certification internationally. It is required by over 50 countries worldwide and approved for competition events by AMA, WERA, FIM, CCS, Formula USA and MotoGP. Similar to USA’s DOT motorcycle helmet safety standard, it favors a more impact-absorbent helmet. The ECE R22.05 is considered the most up-to-date helmet certification standard and the process for certification and testing is very detailed, requiring a series of steps from pre-assessment auditing, testing, and reviews to continued conformity.
